Lawrence Lacrosse Club Wraps Up First Fall Season

Nearly 100 children participated in the local program, from learning the basics of lacrosse up to competitive play.

The Lawrence Lacrosse Club completed its first fall program with a successful showing at the Princeton Turkey Shootout (a 5 vs. 5 boys  tournament) on Nov. 9.

Fifty-five boys participated in the competitive Lawrence Lacrosse program program over a nine-week period, practicing on Saturday nights.

The Princeton Turkey Shootout is a benefit tournament held in memory of Princeton native Bobby Campbell. Before the games began, players heard a speech about Bobby and were encouraged to always support the values of good sportsmanship, integrity and fair play in his honor. Tournament profits were donated to the Trenton Bridge Lacrosse Program.

The seventh/eighth grade team competed successfully against some of the best clubs in the area. The third/fourth grade team played well and finished third in their age group. The fifth/sixth grade team won three straight pool games and then lost a tough championship game. They ultimately finished second among 10 tournament teams.

In addition to the competitive program, 30 younger boys and girls participated in a Little Laxers program on Saturday afternoons during the fall. The clinics focused on teaching the fundamentals of lacrosse. Coaches Dan Brennan and Matt Foret led the program with assistance from Danny Ventresca, Aaron Duff, Tony Muzi, Scott Tennant, Chris Muzi and Rob Lynch.

The club will begin its spring season in March with programs and teams for boys in first through eighth grades, girls in first through fourth grades and a Little Laxers program for boys and girls in kindergarten and prekindergarten.
