Township Man Indicted on Charges of Attempted Kidnapping at Rider

Tony Kadyhrob, who allegedly tried to kidnap a Rider University student earlier in the spring, has been indicted by a Mercer County grand jury.

Tony Kadyhrob, a Lawrence Township man who was banned from setting foot on any college campus in the entire state of New Jersey, was recently indicted on a new charge: kidnapping.

According to a spokesperson from the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, Kadyhrob was indicted on one count of criminal kidnapping - a second degree offense, which carries a penalty of 5 to 10 years in state prison.

A Mercer County grand jury also indicted Kadyhrob, 68, on a third-degree offense of luring, which holds a 3- to 5-year state prison sentence.

The Princeton Pike resident has been free since March 28, after he posted bail of $2,500 in connection with his arrest for allegedly grabbing a Rider University coed and ordering her to get into his car.

Shortly after that incident, police said he was subsequently spotted on The College of New Jersey campus in Ewing. He was later banned by a judge from setting foot on any school or college campus in New Jersey and was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

It was shortly after the TCNJ sighting that Kadyhrob was spotted on a street in Princeton Borough just blocks from the Princeton University campus on April 6.

At that time, Kadyhrob was detained by borough police but then released without being charged because he was not actually seen on any school property.

Since his alleged actions, Kadyhrob has become the focus of both regional and national media outlets, including mentions on CBS Channel 2 from New York and ABC Channel 6 from Philadelphia. His uncanny likeness to the actor Christopher Walken even prompted entertainment news website TMZ to pick up the story.
