New Jersey Election 2013: Lawrenceville’s Turner Re-elected in District 15

The Democrats held on to their seats in the Senate and the General Assembly.

Lawrenceville resident Shirley K. Turner was re-elected to represent District 15 in the state Senate Tuesday night.

Turner has represented the district as Senator since 1998, and served in the Assembly the previous four years.

On Tuesday night, Turner reaffirmed her position by defeating Republican Ron Cox 30,038 to 17,453, according to unofficial vote totals by the Mercer County and Middlesex County clerks’ offices. All but one precinct in Mercer County had reported just after midnight.

Democrats Reed Gusciora and Bonnie Watson Coleman held on to their seats. Coleman won 28,916 votes, and Gusciora collected 28,659 votes, with all but one Mercer County precinct reporting. Republican challenger Anthony Giordano received 17,372 votes, and running mate Kim Taylor, of Lawrenceville, received 17,251 votes.

The 15th District is comprised of East Amwell, Ewing, Hopewell Borough, Hopewell Township, Lambertville, Lawrence, Pennington, Trenton, West Amwell and West Windsor.
