Troop 27 Attends Army Scout Day at West Point

Scouts from BSA Troop 27 of Lawrenceville and their Scout siblings enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend of college football and camping at the scenic and historic West Point federal military reservation.

The Scouts witnessed a time-honored West Point tradition where over 2,000 cadets marched in full dress uniform onto the parade grounds known as "The Plain."  The Scouts also went on a cadet-led tour of the United States Military Academy campus, including the dining hall where over 4,000 cadets eat their meals at the same time in 15 minutes or less.

Before the football game, the Scouts saw Army's parachute demonstration team jump from a helicopter and land inside the stadium at midfield with the game ball. Although Army lost 34-20, they held their own against nationally-ranked #5 Stanford.

Troop 27 Scouts and adults hope to be similarly inspired by a visit to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis in the future as one of our monthly camping activities. Troop 27 meets weekly at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, Thursdays, 7-8:30 PM.
