Legislators get tour of Shore destruction

Members of New Jersey's General Assembly toured Ocean County communities devastated by Superstorm Sandy Thursday (Nov. 29). The tour, led by State Police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes, along with local officials, gave lawmakers and members of the press an up-close look at what Sandy left behind – including the remnants of the Seaside Heights boardwalk and the now-iconic Jet Star roller coaster, which dropped from Casino Pier to the ocean during the storm. Casino Pier will be repaired in what is estimated to be a $45 million project, Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd said, and the roller coaster will be removed from the ocean floor. Governor Appoints Lawrence Resident as Sandy Recovery Manager

Former Executive Assistant Attorney General (and Lawrence Township resident) Marc Ferzan will Manage Hurricane Sandy storm recovery.

In an effort to codify New Jersey’s Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts, Gov. Chris Christie’s announced Wednesday the appointment of Marc Ferzan of Lawrence Township to oversee and coordinate long-term recovery plans and to cooperate with federal, state, local, and non-governmental partner. Ferzen, a former executive assistant attorney general, has been tasked with creating a team to guide recovery efforts and focus on recovery items that require long-term strategic planning, the governor’s office said in a release. He will also work with Christie’s Cabinet as well as various government agencies and organizations to collect information on resources established since Hurricane Sandy’s arrival on the New Jersey shore at the end of October. “…
