The production of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" - with performances on March 16, 17, 22 and 23 - marks the school drama club’s 10th anniversary.

Reprising its very first show, the Saint Ann School Drama Club marks its 10th anniversary this month by staging “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Shows are at 7 p.m. on March 16, 22, and 23, and 3 p.m. on March 17. The drama club, founded and run by school parents to provide an extracurricular alternative to sports, has been performing a spring musical every year since 2003, including The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Disney’s Aladdin, Once Upon a Mattress, and most recently Bugsy Malone. The Lawrence High School Theater Company will present "Oklahoma!" on March 7, 8, and 9 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Lawrence High School, 2525 Princeton Pike. In anticipation of the show, the school district on Monday released the above video teaser. “Oklahoma!” – Rodgers and Hammerstein’s first musical – tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. Tickets can be purchased at the door: $6 for students and seniors; $8 for adults.

The Lawrence High Theater Company will present "Almost , Maine" by John Cariani on Nov. 15, 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. in the Lawrence High School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door: "Almost, Maine" was on Broadway beginning in 2006. It It is a romatic comedy and follows the format of movies such as "Love Actually" or "New Years Eve" in that it is a series of different, little stories all strung together in one town. Some of the stories are laugh-out-loud funny, and others are a little sad. There's something for everyone.

Rediscover the loopy fun and darker corners of J.M. Barrie's novel Peter Pan this weekend with Lawrence High School’s production of the faithful, fast-moving stage adaptation Peter Pan and Wendy. When the carefree and careless Peter Pan flies into the nursery of the Darling home, Wendy Darling follows her instinct for adventure and brings her little brothers along to the magical Neverland to take care of the Lost Boys. Once in Neverland, however, the Darling children are soon swept into Peter's deadly battle with Captain Hook and his mostly-fearsome pirate crew. During the sixth annual Shakesperience at Rider University, the newly renovated Bart Luedeke Center Theater transformed into the world of The Bard as more than 170 middle and high school students from eight schools across the state performed scenes and recited lines from William Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets. It all took place Tuesday and Wednesday (May 22-23). The two-day festival, coordinated by Dr. Kathleen Pierce, associate professor of graduate education, is designed to promote the relevance of understanding Shakespeare’s work and enables students to meet with their peers, and Rider faculty, staff and students, who are inspired by the work of the iconic playwright and poet. Oscar-nominee Hal Holbrook returns to McCarter Theatre on Friday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Mark Twain Tonight! – his acclaimed Tony Award-winning one-man show which celebrates the humor, satirical wit and timeless observations of Mark Twain. Hal Holbrook has never been able to quit Mark Twain. He has toured the one-man show in some part of every year since 1954, with over 2,100 performances. Mark Twain Tonight! has become perhaps the longest-running show in theater history.
