Turkey Southwestern Soup Make a deliciously hearty and easy soup with turkey and corn leftovers mixed with tomatoes, beans, and warm southwestern spices. Ingredients In a sauce pot, combine turkey, onion, vegetables, jalapeno, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt and ground black pepper. Stir and add the chicken broth, tomatoes, corn and beans. Cover and cook on low for 1 hour. When ready to serve, ladle soup into bowls and top with avocado and cilantro. Garnish soup with lime wedges. Makes 4 servings.

Turkey Flatbread Sandwich Leftover cranberry sauce is mixed with mayo and Dijon to make a tart and creamy aioli that tastes great when paired with turkey, spinach, cheese and bacon. Ingredients Spread aioli across one slice of flatbread. Layer spinach, bacon strips, roasted red peppers, turkey and burrata cheese. Roll up tightly. Slice into 1" pinwheels and serve. Yields 4 servings. Cranberry Aioli Mix cranberry sauce, mayonnaise, mustard and orange juice in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate until needed.

Do you like Lowe's? You're going to like them even more come this Wednesday. That's because 35 Lowe's home improvement stores in New Jersey and New York will pass out $1 million in fully-cooked Thanksgiving dinners. The first 500 customers at each store will receive the dinners, starting at 11 a.m. on Nov. 21. The dinners, prepared by Boston Market, are free. There is no income qualification, no strings. It's all to help people impacted by Hurricane Sandy. ShopRite has lowered the amount shoppers must spend in order to qualify for a free Thanksgiving turkey, according to Supermarket News. The traditional ShopRite turkeyfest happens once a year. During that time, shoppers who spend a certain amount of money can pick up a free turkey for their Thanksgiving table. This year, the supermarket recognizes that people who were affected by the recent hurricane probably didn't have food shopping on their minds - especially with areas of central New Jersey not having electricity, in some cases, for more than a week. Editor's Note: The following is a news release issued by Rider University. Thanksgiving marks a time for gratitude, tradition and service to others. For more than 20 years, on the Saturday before the holiday, the Rider University community has supported the Loaves and Fishes, a nonprofit organization that serves hot meals to the poor and homeless of Trenton. On Saturday, Nov. 19, 125 volunteers — mostly students — from Rider continued the tradition by serving a pre-Thanksgiving meal to more than 400 individuals at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Trenton. Rider volunteers donated money and cookies, set up tables, greeted people, served meals and cleaned up throughout the morning and early afternoon. Aramark provided the meal and paper products. …
