Mrs. G's Redevelopment Project Approved

Zoning board grants conditional use variance for redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property at Route 1 at Bakers Basin Road.

After nearly a year of hearings before the zoning board, the township voted 6-1 last week to grant a conditional use variance for the redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots along Route 1 at Bakers Basin Road, according to centraljersey.com. The zoning board granted preliminary and final site plan approval for four proposed buildings on the site at the meeting, with final site plan approval for the fifth building to occur a future date once a tenant is found, according to the report. As part of the proposal, existing buildings on the properties – the current Mrs. G showroom, a vacant business, an abandoned diner, and three unoccupied homes – would be demolished. Council had nothing to do with making this happen and everything to do with the fact that it took a full year for the Zoning Board to approve this. The council has stacked the Zoning and Planning boards with unqualified political hacks who have no conception of how to move applications along. Route 1 Redevelopment Testimony Resumes Tonight

Testimony about the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots along Route 1 will continue at a special meeting of the Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment today, Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Testimony concerning the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots that form the southeastern corner of the intersection of Route 1 (Brunswick Pike) and Bakers Basin Road will resume tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 28, when the Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment meets. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the lower level conference room of the municipal building at 2207 Lawrence Rd. (Route 206). As part of the proposal, existing buildings on the properties – the current Mrs. G showroom, a vacant business, an abandoned diner, and three unoccupied homes – would be demolished. Additional testimony took place last week concerning the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G property and adjacent vacant lots along Route 1 at Bakers Basin Road. Testimony will resume during a special zoning board meeting on Oct. 10.

Last week’s Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting featured two more hours of testimony concerning the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots that form the southeastern corner of the intersection of Route 1 (Brunswick Pike) and Bakers Basin Road. Charles Olivo, the professional engineer for the developer, 2012 Lawrenceville Associates (formerly Ferber Construction Management), continued his testimony under cross-examination from Kevin Moore, an attorney representing the owners of the Shell gas station located at Route 1 and Franklin Corner Road directly opposite the proposed redevelopment area. I love how the lawyer for the Shell station has all these "concerned" questions about trees and ground water runoff. I guess the prospect of having to compete with Wawa gas means he'll have to invest in his own property and lower his gas price. Business isn't fair, its business.   more ›
