Late Monday afternoon, officials at Quaker Bridge Mall confirmed what many have suspected for months- an Apple store is slated to open at the newly renovated mall on Route 1 in Lawrenceville. It was shortly after 4 p.m. when someone managing the Mall's Facebook account posted a photo of the new store location inside the mall along with the message, "Guess who is coming to Quaker Bridge Mall!?" The online post quickly garnered nearly 300 Facebook 'Likes' and more than 120 'Shares.' It's unclear when the new store will open, but it will certainly be a welcome addition to Central New Jersey, because the nearest Apple retailers are currently in Freehold or Bridgewater, each at least a 30 minute drive away. Aeropostale, The Art of Shaving and White House Black Market will open this spring and summer.
As part of the mall’s ongoing revitalization project, Quaker Bridge Mall will welcome three new retailers over the next several months. In May, teen retailer Aeropostale is slated to re-open its Quaker Bridge location with a new prototype store on the upper level of the center between Lord & Taylor and Macy’s. The high-tech store design will feature iPods in fitting rooms so shoppers can personalize the music while trying on items; Apple desktops and iPads will be available throughout the store for customers to scan products, read reviews and utilize the retailer’s build-your-own-outfit guide. The man allegedly used his young daughter to help shoplift, then scuffled with store security.
A New Brunswick man faces multiple charges after police say he shoplifted from Macy's at Quaker Bridge Mall, scuffled with store security officers and had even more stolen merchandise in his car, all in violation of a court order to stay away from Macy's. David Kamara, 36, of New Brunswick was charged with robbery, shoplifting, employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime, endangering the welfare of a child and trespassing. According to Lawrence Township Police, the incident happened on Saturday, April 27 at 6:53 p.m. Kamara allegedly stuffed men's polos and pants- totaling $527- into an American Eagle shopping bag after removing the sensors, police said. A 30-year-old Hamilton woman was arrested at Quaker Bridge Mall after police discovered her three young children alone in a running vehicle in the mall parking lot on April 17. Syeda Khalil, 30 was charged with three counts of child abandonment and her children were turned over to family members per the Division of Youth and Family Services. Khalil was released on a summons. According to Lawrence Township Police, the incident happened shortly before 8 p.m., after someone reported to mall security that there were three children alone in a car. Lawrence Township police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who fled after snatching a cellular phone from a shopper at Quaker Bridge Mall on Route 1 last week. The victim, a 50-year-old resident of Edison, told police she was talking on her iPhone while walking in the area of the mall’s center court when the man ran up from behind, grabbed the phone out of her hand and fled shortly before 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, according to township police spokesman Lt.
