An early-morning fire destroyed a car parked in the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Lawrence Township today, Thursday, March 21. Police said the blaze was reported about 3:40 a.m. after it was spotted by a passing newspaper deliveryman. The front of the vehicle was engulfed in flames when police officers and volunteer firefighters arrived on the scene. The blaze was extinguished by crews from the Lawrenceville, Lawrence Road and Slackwood volunteer fire companies. There was no damage sustained to the nearby residence. The cause of the fire was being investigated by officials from the township fire marshal's office.

Luckily, no serious injuries have been reported, according to Lawrence Township police.
While it’s only amounted to a few inches, the snow that fell this morning (Friday, March 8) – and, as of 10:30 a.m., was still falling in parts of Lawrence Township – certainly made for some treacherous driving conditions on some roads. Lawrence Township police have responded to multiple accidents involving vehicles sliding off roadways, including one in which a Mercer County Department of Transportation salt truck ended up on its side in a ditch on Carter Road near Tall Timbers Road. Another accident, reported shortly before 8:30 a.m., involved a car that slid off Lawrenceville-Pennington Road and slammed sideways into a utility pole near the northernmost of the road’s two intersections with Lawrencia Drive. Fire officials said roofing contractors accidentally started today's blaze. Originally built in 1885 and rebuilt following a fire in 1892, Woodhull House is one of the private boarding school’s student dormitories.
Roofing contractors this morning (Feb. 26) accidentally started a fire that resulted in a large emergency response but caused only minimal damaged to the historic Woodhull House on the Lawrenceville School campus in the 2500 block of Route 206 (Main Street/Lawrence Road). Built in the late 19th century as one of the private boarding school’s student dormitories, the Queen Anne-style building is in the process of having its roof replaced, according to Jennifer Szwalek, the school’s director of communications. The Rider University Department of Athletics celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Sunday, Feb. 17. The event offered free sports clinics for girls between 5 and 18 years old and included athletes from almost every varsity women’s team on campus. The day culminated with a basketball game between the women’s varsity basketball team and Loyola. The Broncs won handily 56 to 41.

Only minor injuries were reported in the four-vehicle pileup on Interstate 95 in Lawrence Township. One driver narrowly missed being impaled when a milepost sign pierced his windshield as his car flipped. A cat riding in another car escaped unharmed.
To the amazement of the emergency personnel and police who responded to the scene, no one was killed in a four-vehicle collision in which a U-Haul truck flipped onto its side and another vehicle came to rest on its roof along Interstate 95 in Lawrence Township this morning, Saturday, Feb. 2. In fact, only two people were transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries, officials said. With wind gusts in excess of 40 mph, today's (Jan. 31) weather has toppled trees and caused problems with overhead electrical wires. This morning, Teak Lane was blocked by a fallen tree. And Princeton Pike/Mercer Street was closed for a during the morning commute after a tree fell across the road near Galliup Road in Princeton, just north of the Lawrence Township border. And about 12:30 p.m. today, Lawrence Township police and firefighters closed the intersection of Lake Drive, Nathan Hale Drive and Cambridge Avenue for over an hour after overhead electrical wires started to arc and burn part of a tree. PSE&G personnel had to be called out to shut off power to the wires.

The accident occurred about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday after the driver lost control of his vehicle while negotiating the exit ramp from I-95 South to Route 206 North in Lawrence Township.

A crew of firefighters from Lawrence Township helped battle the fire on Sixth Street early today, Jan. 29.
Ewing Township’s three volunteer fire companies, aided by a crew from Lawrence Township’s Lawrence Road Volunteer Fire Co., battled a blaze in a vacant apartment building at 1576 Sixth St., near North Olden Avenue, early today, Tuesday, Jan. 29. Ewing Township police and firefighters, who were alerted about 12:10 a.m., said they arrived on the scene to find much of the two-story dwelling ablaze. Multiple hoselines were quickly put to work. Adding to the dangerous situation was the fact that one of the overhead electrical wires still connected to the building burned through and fell into the street.
