Nicholas (Nick) King, 42, passed away at home on Sunday, March 24, after a two year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. He was born and grew up in Bristol, England, where his good looks, intelligence and fun-loving nature gained him a wife, a PhD, and many friends. In 2001 he moved to San Jose, California, and subsequently to Lawrence Township, N.J., in 2002. He worked for JDSU as an optical engineer, designing amplifiers for the telecom industry. He gained several patents during his career. He was a great problem solver, very resourceful, and could turn his hand to almost anything. Raymond C. Kaminski, 94, passed away on Thursday at Compassionate Care Hospice, Trenton. Born in Johnstown, Pa., Raymond was a former resident of Trenton before moving to Lawrence Township. He was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. Raymond retired in 1969 as a Supervisor with Columbia Carbon in Trenton. He was a Parishioner at the Church of St. Ann and a member of the North Trenton American Legion Post #458, the Lawrenceville VFW Post #3022 and the Lawrence Seniors Club. Raymond was a self-taught oil painter, avid gardener and Phillies fan. He enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and spending time with his family. George H. Conover Jr., 84, of Lawrence Township, passed away on Thursday, March 21, at home. Born in Trenton, he was a longtime resident of Lawrence Township. George was a graduate of Trenton High School Class of 1946, Lafayette College Class of 1949, earning his BA degree in three years, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Doctor of Jurisprudence, Class of 1951, and New York University Masters of Law, Class of 1952. Before retiring in 1986, he was a senior partner with Levinson, Conover, Axelrod and Wheaton Law Firm in Edison. Barbara K. Van Doren, 69, beloved wife of Robert, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 17, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara first came to Lawrence Township to study at Rider College, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business administration. Barbara was a resident of Lawrenceville for 41 years. In addition to raising her two children, Barbara was household "comptroller," as her son called her, and an active member of her church. Her marriage to Bob was an inspiration to many - no two people enjoyed each other's company more than they did and they never missed an opportunity to kiss or hold hands. Beverley Fichera Lester, 66, of Lawrence Township died peacefully on Friday, March 15, at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. She died after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lexington, North Carolina, Beverley was a resident of Lawrence for the past 30 years. Beverley graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 1968 and continued her education receiving her master’s degree in 1972 from Teachers College at Columbia University. She was a Special Education teacher for 26 years, having been in the Lawrence Township School System for 20 of those years, before retiring in 2004. Josephine Dolores Gioia of Lawrence Township passed away on Tuesday, March 12, at Chandler Hall, Newtown, Pa. Born Sept. 13, 1917, in New York City, she was a resident of Lawrence for 52 years. Phyllis D. Nerwinski, 78, of Lawrence Township passed away on Thursday, March 7, at Capital Health Center in Hopewell surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was born and raised in Trenton and was a member of St. James Parish. For the past 45 years she resided in Lawrence and was a member of the Church of St. Ann. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Paul W. O’Neil Jr., 82, died peacefully, surrounded by loving family after a short illness on Saturday, March 2, at the home of his son Michael. Paul was born in Newark, N.J., and graduated from Trenton Catholic High School. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Lipan ATF 85, a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the Bell Telephone Company. Paul was a resident of Lawrence Township until relocating to Waretown, N.J. to live by his beloved Barnegat Bay. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many years captaining his boat, the “Miss Dorothy”, on the ocean and bay.
