The Lawrence Township Education Foundation (LTEF) is pleased to announce it has completed its Fall 2012 grant cycle by awarding 18 grants totaling more than $51,000 to fund innovative programs in Lawrence Township Public Schools. The grants, submitted by district teachers, cover a broad range of disciplines including physical education, music, science, reading and speech therapy. At Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS), fourth-grade students will be treated to an “Academy on the Go” assembly presented by the Academy of Natural Sciences. An exhibit featuring paintings by Lawrence High School students opened at the Lawrence Branch of the Mercer County Library on Nov. 4. The paintings will be on exhibit until Nov. 30. Master Artist Yu-Chen Chen worked with the students and demonstrated both calligraphy and painting techniques. Ms. Chen is a master artist who currently practices Chinese Calligraphic and Painting Art forms. The paintings are the final result of a grant that was funded by the Lawrence Township Education Foundation.
