Only minor injuries were reported in the four-vehicle pileup on Interstate 95 in Lawrence Township. One driver narrowly missed being impaled when a milepost sign pierced his windshield as his car flipped. A cat riding in another car escaped unharmed.
To the amazement of the emergency personnel and police who responded to the scene, no one was killed in a four-vehicle collision in which a U-Haul truck flipped onto its side and another vehicle came to rest on its roof along Interstate 95 in Lawrence Township this morning, Saturday, Feb. 2. In fact, only two people were transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries, officials said. The accident, which was reported just before 7:55 a.m., happened along the northbound side of I-95 near Exit 7B, directly beneath the Route 206 overpass. A car was split in half after it collided with another vehicle, veered off Interstate 95 and slammed into a tree Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 30, in Lawrence Township. Amazingly, the car’s female driver survived the crash and is expected to recover from her injuries, police said. In a separate accident, reported about a half-hour earlier on Wednesday, eight people were hurt when a small bus loaded with senior citizens collided with another vehicle on Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1) near Carnegie Road. The driver of a sport utility vehicle amazingly suffered only minor injuries when her vehicle flipped over after colliding with a car on Interstate 95 in Lawrence Township late Sunday morning, Nov. 11. The accident happened about 10:50 a.m. along the northbound side of I-95, just south of Exit 8A (Princeton Pike). The woman’s SUV had just entered the interstate from Route 206 (Lawrence Road) when it collided with the car, which was already on the interstate and possibly making a lane change at the time, according to emergency officials who were at the scene. Update, 5:45 p.m. Oct. 1: A Morris County man has been identified as the person killed in this morning’s three-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 in Lawrence Township. Andrew Kominek, 59, of Landing (Roxbury Township) was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 8:30 a.m. along the northbound side of I-95 at milepost 8.2, near Princeton Pike, Sgt. Brian Polite confirmed. Kominek’s 2009 Subaru Forester was struck from behind by a 2010 International tractor-trailer traveling in the right northbound lane and, in turn, pushed into the rear of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, Polite said. Lawrence Township firefighters were initially dispatched to the accident scene in Ewing to help extricate the woman from the wreckage but were cancelled prior to arriving after it was determined their services would not be needed.
Update, 5 p.m. July 20: New Jersey State Police have released the identity of the woman who was killed this morning when her vehicle struck a tree along Interstate 95 in Ewing Township. Sgt.
