EPS Centennial Honors Past Principals, Faculty and Students

Eldridge Park Elementary School celebrates 100 years.

Past principals, faculty members and students of Eldridge Park Elementary School came together last month to honor the school's landmark anniversary. The event – part of the school’s ongoing 100th anniversary celebrations – began with a dessert reception in the school library, followed by a meeting in the school’s all-purpose room. The current students of EPS also gave the honored guests EPS "goodie bags" to thank them for their commitment to Eldridge Park School throughout the years. Dr. Robert Bartoletti presented current principal, Kathryn Robbins, with a replica school bell that was rung daily to signal the start of the day when Eldridge Park School first opened.

At 6:30 p.m. today (Oct. 26) Eldridge Park Elementary School will unveil a 45-foot long mural that third-graders created to celebrate the school's 100th anniversary. At 7 p.m. the school's 100th Anniversary Amateur Night will be held.

Third-graders at Eldridge Park Elementary School have taken an artistic journey through time to create a massive wall mural both celebrating their school’s 100th anniversary and highlighting how things have changed in Lawrence Township over the course of the last century. Looking upon the colorful collage – which measures 45 feet long by 40½ inches tall and is painted directly on the wall along one of the main hallways in the school on Lawn Park Avenue – is like looking through a window in time. The mural begins in 1912, when the school was constructed, and progresses to the current day. Moving from left to right, images of a steam train, biplane, hand-crank phone and other icons of the past give way to depictions of more modern sights …
