Lawrence Township’s Growth and Redevelopment Committee, in conjunction with the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce, conducted its 14th Annual Awards Program for Economic Development on Oct. 10. The program took place at the Quaker Bridge Mall. The keynote address was provided by Lynda Benedetto and Marian Kapp representing the mall's owner, Simon Properties, along with Scott Scungio representing Scungio Borst & Associates, who are responsible for the mall’s renovation construction management. Testimony about the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots along Route 1 at Bakers Basin Road will continue Oct. 29 before the Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment.
During three more hours of testimony concerning the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots along Route 1 (Brunswick Pike) at Bakers Basin Road, members of the Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment Wednesday night (Oct. 10) heard details about the combined convenience store/gas station that Wawa wants to build on the site, as well as parking and traffic issues related to the overall redevelopment project. No action was taken by the board, and testimony is expected continue during a special meeting to be held on Oct. 29. Testimony concerning the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots that form the southeastern corner of the intersection of Route 1 (Brunswick Pike) and Bakers Basin Road continued during last week’s (Sept. 19) meeting of the Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment. Testimony will resume during a special zoning board meeting that will be held on Oct. 10. By changing the land's use designation from residential to commercial, Lawrence Township Planning Board has made it possible for Costco Wholesale Corp. to formally submit plans to build a store on a 37-acre parcel on Quakerbridge Road.
The Lawrence Township Planning Board Monday evening (Sept. 10) approved a change in the land use designation of a 37-acre parcel located along Quakerbridge Road where Costco Wholesale Corp. has expressed interest in building a store. Last week’s Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting featured two more hours of testimony concerning the proposed redevelopment of the Mrs. G TV and Appliances property and adjacent vacant lots that form the southeastern corner of the intersection of Route 1 (Brunswick Pike) and Bakers Basin Road. At their meeting last week, the Lawrence Township Zoning Board heard testimony about a proposal that would renovate a corner of Route 1 and Bakers Basin Road with businesses that would include a new Mrs. G appliance store, WaWa, McDonald's and TD Bank.

After reaching a deal with NJ Gov. Chris Christie, Amazon will be making state residents pay them 7 percent on their purchases.
If you're a New Jersey resident who buys stuff from Amazon without paying sales tax, those days are about to come to an end. Gov. Chris Christie has reached an agreement with Amazon, the giant online retailer, that it will begin collecting the 7 percent NJ sales tax on items delivered to state residents starting in 2013. The deal was announced at a joint press conference given by Christie and Amazon executive Paul Meisner, the Wall Street Journal reported. The tradeoff for Amazon buyers in New Jersey is that the company said they'd build two new warehouses in the state at the same time tax collection begins, in July of next year.
