DUI and reckless driving charges have been filed against the woman, whose sport utility vehicle flipped onto its side and hit a utility pole on Tartan Court shortly before 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

A car driven by a 56-year-old Lawrence man who police allege was intoxicated at the time hit a utility pole early Saturday, causing the pole to topple and a wire from the pole to damage a township police car and injure the police officer inside it.
A Lawrence Township man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving early this morning (Saturday, Nov. 17) after he crashed his car into a utility pole, toppling the pole and, in the process, damaging the police car of the officer who was just about to stop the suspect’s vehicle, according to township police. The driver of a sport utility vehicle amazingly suffered only minor injuries when her vehicle flipped over after colliding with a car on Interstate 95 in Lawrence Township late Sunday morning, Nov. 11. The accident happened about 10:50 a.m. along the northbound side of I-95, just south of Exit 8A (Princeton Pike). The woman’s SUV had just entered the interstate from Route 206 (Lawrence Road) when it collided with the car, which was already on the interstate and possibly making a lane change at the time, according to emergency officials who were at the scene. Witnesses said the driver was "speeding and weaving in and out of traffic" shortly before the crash on the northbound side of the Trenton Freeway (Route 1), just north of the Whitehead Road exit, in Lawrence Township Friday morning, according to police.

The bridge carrying Interstate 195 over the New Jersey Turnpike in Robbinsville was damaged when a truck crashed and caught fire beneath it Wednesday morning, killing the truck's driver. The lane closure is expected to last up to six weeks.

NJDOT Commissioner James Simpson tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 3) announced that westbound traffic on a heavily traveled Interstate 195 overpass over the New Jersey Turnpike in Mercer County will be restricted to one lane for up to six weeks. The normal complement of two eastbound travel lanes across the overpass will be maintained. The overpass sustained damage earlier today when a truck crashed and became engulfed in flames beneath the overpass. Lawrence Township police, emergency medical personnel and career and volunteer firefighters responded to a one-vehicle accident this morning (Thursday, Sept. 27) in which a car went off Fackler Road and struck a utility pole near the corner of Deer Run shortly before 8 a.m. The car’s female driver was not seriously injured but was trapped in the wreckage. After she was freed, she was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The cause of the crash is under investigation by township police.
