Located at 2207 Lawrence Rd., just south of Interstate 95 and north of the Rider University campus, the…More Lawrence Township Municipal Building is home to most of the local government's offices. Located within the building are the Township Council's chambers, the offices of the Township Clerk and Township Manager, the Health Department, the Engineering Division, the Division of Code Enforcement (which includes the offices of the township's construction official and fire marshal), the township's planning and zoning boards, the Recreation Department, and the township's tax collector and assessor.
Originally dedicated in 1965, the municipal building underwent an expansion in 1977. The township eventually ran out of space and was forced to relocate code enforcement officials into an office trailer located in the parking lot. Following the 2002 opening of the township's newly constructed police and courts building next-door, plans began for another expansion and renovation of the municipal building. That work, intended in part to eliminate the need for the code enforcement trailer, began in 2005 and was completed in 2007.
This facility, located on Bakers Basin Road near Shinney Lane, serves as the headquarters of Lawrence Township's…More Department of Public Works. The public works department is responsible for maintaining all township roadways and storm drains. This includes plowing snow and removing leaves and other yard waste. Public works employees also maintain the township's recreational facilities and care for township buildings.
It is here that the township stores its fleet of trucks, snow plows and other equipment. Mechanics employed by the public works department conduct repairs and do preventative maintenance here on the township's police cars, ambulances, fire trucks and other vehicles. Township vehicles also come to this facility to refuel at the gasoline and diesel pumps located in the rear yard.
This building houses Lawrence Township's police department and municipal court. The 41,500-square-foot police and…More court building was constructed in 2001 and opened in 2002.
