Johnson Trolley Line
A walking and jogging path, the Johnson Trolley Line follows the route once taken by the Trenton-Princeton Traction Company's trolley that ran from Witherspoon Street in Princeton to West Hanover Street in Trenton, with stops in Lawrence Township at Eggerts Crossing Road, Denow Road and Phillips Avenue. The trolley service ran from 1901 until 1940, although the old trolley tracks continued to be used to haul freight until the 1970s. The tracks have since been removed.
The line is accessible from several points, including Johnson Road at Eggerts Crossing Road, and runs from the Ewing Township border at the Shabakunk Creek to the playing fields behind Rider University. Another walkable section of the old trolley line runs between Gordon Road and Denow Road.
