Flash Flood Watch Remains In Effect Through 8 p.m.

The watch is in effect for multiple counties, including Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth.

Heavy rainfall experienced throughout the state on Monday afternoon into the early morning hours Tuesday could escalate into flash flooding if rain continues through the day, as expected.

While most of the heavy rain took place in Hunterdon County, many counties in the state are under a flash flood watch issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), which remains in effect through 8 p.m. tonight for multiple New Jersey counties, including Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, mainly from midday into the evening hours, according to NWS. The possibility remains for scattered showers throughout the day, bringing with it very heavy rain.
