Lawrence Hamnett U12 Blazers Defeat Parsippany Dragons 4-1

Goalkeepers Luke Okupski and Alex Hatfield turned away all but one shot throughout the day.

The Lawrence Hamnett U12 Blazers got their Fall 2013 season off to a start with a 4-1 victory over the Parsippany Dragons. 

The Blazers opened play in the first half dominating possession with crisp ball movement and creating numerous scoring chances. Ryan Sargent broke open a tight game in the final minute of the 1st half with a well-struck blast from outside the 18-yard box. 

Parsippany countered with a quick goal to start the second half but Connor Monaghan answered with a composed breakaway goal shortly thereafter.

Later in the half, Vinnie Giangrasso finished a close range shot off of an assist by Luke Okupski. Giangrasso also had a hand in creating the final Blazers goal by playing Jason Lobben into space on an overlapping run. Lobben penetrated wide into the 18-yard box and crossed to Jude Bidle, who finished it into the back of the net.

Hatfield, Robbie Lynch, Luke Bidle and Teddy Gutman consistently displayed composure and creative combination play in midfield and defense both allowing the Blazers to mount attacking opportunities and keeping the Dragons’ opportunities to a minimum. 

On the offensive end, Romulo Lopez, Sami Khayyat, Abyhan Jaikishen, and Eddie Estrada mounted consistent scoring chances, with Jaikishen sending multiple strikes on goal.
