Teen Institute Honors Lawrence High School Chapter

In other Lawrence Township community news, adult English classes will begin at Slackwood Elementary School during the evening of Sept. 18. Meanwhile, registrations are still being accepted for the Lawrence Lightning Junior football program.

Lawrence High Club Wins Award at Leadership Conference

The Lawrence High School Chapter of the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute received The Lindsey Rose Meyer Memorial Prevention Award at the Summer Leadership conference in Blairstown, New Jersey on Aug. 24.  LHS Student Assistance Counselor Tonia Moore advises the chapter. 

The award is given to the school that is deemed "the Most Outstanding Action Group in New Jersey based upon their comprehensive, innovative, and effective prevention programming throughout the school."  The award includes a trophy which will reside in the school for the year and three scholarships to camp for next summer.

Adult English Classes

Adult English Classes will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 7-9 p.m. at Slackwood Elementary School. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis on the first night of class. See flyer (also available in the media box to the right).

 

Lawrence Lightning Jr. Football

Lawrence Lightning Junior football is still accepting registrations for the 2012 football season for individuals in Grades 6 to 8.  For more details, visit the website or call the Lawrence Township Recreation Office at (609) 844-7067.

 

HindiUSA - Lawrenceville Chapter

The Lawrenceville Chapter Hindi School begins on Friday, Sept. 14, at its new location - Notre Dame High School, 601 Lawrence Rd., Lawrence Township.  Register, meet the teachers and visit the school on Friday, Sept. 7. See registration form with contact information here (also available above).

 

Lawrence Nature Center Events

  • Sept. 9 - Family Picnic & Fairy/Gnome House Festival. See flyer.
  • Sept. 12 - Monthly Friends of Lawrence Nature Center meeting at 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 18 - Lawrence Nature Center Education Committee meeting at 7 p.m.

Meetings are open to the entire community interested in nature and science education.
