Notre Dame High School Honors Teachers of the Year

English teacher Mary Ann Liptak and math teacher Mary Hermida were honored recently during the annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, sponsored by the Notre Dame Parent Teachers Association.

Congratulations to Notre Dame High School Teachers of the Year, Miss Mary Ann Liptak (of Lawrence), and Mrs. Mary Hermida (of West Windsor). 

Miss Liptak, English teacher, was nominated by students, teachers and academic departments, who praised her as “a memorable teacher,” who creates new ways to learn about literature.

As both teacher and chairperson of the English department, she has taught many students and alumni of Notre Dame. A 1962 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Miss Liptak, has devoted her teaching career to her alma mater.

Mrs. Hermida, Mathematics teacher at Notre Dame for 17 years, “inspires students to learn, providing individual help outside of the classroom and always treats them with courtesy and respect.”

Students appreciate her use of technology to help them find solutions to math problems. She has taught almost all the Math courses offered at Notre Dame, including Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus.  She was also moderator for the Math League.
