LHS Students Tie for 1st Place in Local Speech Contest

Kyra Glover and Shea Patel will now compete in February at the state level of the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Voice of Democracy contest.

Lawrence High School (LHS) students Kyra Glover (10th grade) and Shea Patel (ninth grade) recently tied for first place at the post level of the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay Competition.

The theme of this year's contest is "Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?"

Each student received $250 and earned a spot at the state competition to be held in February.

Kyra and Shea are students in Ellen Chepiga's public speaking class.
