LHS' O'Rourke & Finnerty Swim to Championships

Lawrence High School students Kate O'Rourke and Peter Finnerty captured multiple titles recently at the 2013 Mercer County Swimming Tournament.

Two Lawrence High School students - junior Kate O'Rourke and senior Peter Finnerty - are 2013 Mercer County Champions in both the 50 and 100 meter freestyle events of the Mercer County Swimming Tournament, which took place on Feb. 2.

Peter won the 50 Free in 24.27 and the 100 Free in 52.79, and set new school records.

Kate defended her titles by winning the 50 Free in 27.31 and the 100 Free in 59.50. In addition, Kate was named the Girls Most Valuable Swimmer of the meet for the second consecutive year.

Other medal winners were Patrick Lavery, junior, fifth place in the 100 Backstroke and Maeve Humphreys, sophomore, fifth place in the 100 Butterfly.
