Editor's Note: The following is a news release issued last week by The Lawrenceville School.

The Lawrenceville School was pleased to present $65,000, the school's annual donation, in support of the Lawrence Township Education Foundation (LTEF). Since 1995, the school has donated $1,030,000 to assist the education of Lawrence Township children.

The LTEF, now in its 19th year, is a nonprofit organization that fosters educational excellence, creativity, and achievement in the Lawrence Township public schools by providing grants for projects and programs, generating corporate and private financial support, and encouraging contributions of volunteer time. The Lawrenceville School was among the first LTEF patrons in 1992.

"LTEF enables a host of wonderful projects, ranging from support for struggling readers to a robotics engineering program, that enrich the education of every Lawrence Township public school student," said Lawrenceville School acting Head Master Graham Cole. "The Lawrenceville School is pleased to continue its sponsorship of LTEF we look forward to continued collaboration with this innovative organization."

Initiatives supported by the Lawrenceville School and other LTEF donors have included enhanced learning opportunities for both students and teachers. During the 2010-11 school year, the Education Foundation was able to provide over $150,000 in grants to support various programs in the areas of math/science, technology, music and art, literacy, humanities, and service programs in the district's seven schools.

Science classes at the high school were outfitted with hand-held probes consistent with college-level technology while students at Lawrence Intermediate School will benefit from a new sound system for their musical and theatrical performances. These and many more projects are made possible by Lawrence Township Education Foundation funded grants.

In addition to its financial support, the school provides in-kind services that include office space, event sponsorship, and access to copying services. Lawrenceville School Communications Director Jennifer Szwalek is an LTEF trustee; Head Master Liz Duffy serves as an ex officio member.

"The Education Foundation is grateful to the Lawrenceville School for its dedicated support to our mission," said Pepper Evans, Lawrence Township Education Foundation Board of Trustees president. "It is only through the generosity and unflagging support of our donors that we are able to realize our mission to enhance the educational experience of all Lawrence Township students."

Founded in 1810, The Lawrenceville School offers a comprehensive, coeducational program for 818 students in grades nine through post-graduate, who come from 29 states and 35 countries. For additional information, please visit www.lawrenceville.org.
