Students in the Academy of Business and International Studies at Lawrence High School and Academy Leader Mick Cimorelli recently toured the New York Stock Exchange and the United Nations in New York City.
The academy offers students the opportunity to prepare for careers in business, culinary, and fashion. The trip focused on both the business and international studies strands of the academy, giving students insight into two of the most prominent buildings in New York.
At the Stock Exchange, students visited the building's Executive Level where they had an information session with one of the organization's managers. Afterward, they went to the trading floor and had small group conversations with a broker and witnessed the stock trading process first hand.
Students then traveled to the United Nations headquarters where tour guides explained the UN's purpose and global issues being discussed. They also visited large meeting halls and experienced how different nations are represented in the conferences.
