Lawrence High School held its 2012 Senior Awards program on June 7. The following awards were handed out that night:

1) The American Legion Americanism Awards are presented for courage, patriotism, scholarship, service, honor, and leadership. Awarded to Brianna Gladwell and Henry Sayen.

2) The American Legion Post 414 Scholarships are presented to descendants of veterans for academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities. Awarded to Eric Floyd, Brianna Gladwell, and James Macheda.

3) The Dr. Joseph Michael Fiorello Memorial Scholarship is presented to a senior with a GPA of 3.5 or higher who plans to study at a four-year college with a focus on science or medicine. Awarded to Elizabeth Hernandez.

4) The Kamal Bathala Memorial Award is presented to an outstanding student-athlete who plans to further their education. Awarded to Dean Price.

5) The Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award is presented to a member of the graduating class who has demonstrated exemplary academic achievement and leadership excellence. Awarded to Breianna Pettis.

6) The Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award recognizes a senior athlete who has “played over their head” or is an athlete with a “never-say-die” attitude, who epitomizes the adage, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” Awarded to Robert Brackett.

7) The Marine Corps “Semper Fidelis” Music Award is presented to a senior musician who displays traits that Marines consider essential to being a good leader...endurance, knowledge, unselfishness, dependability, enthusiasm and loyalty. Awarded to Ryan O’Neill.

8) The Captain Lynn Scutellaro Memorial Scholarship is presented to a senior who plans to further their education and has demonstrated a commitment to community service. Awarded to Matthew Hinson.

9) The Selma Litowitz English Award is presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated the highest level of success in all aspects of language arts. Awarded to Ethan Whitener.

10) The Lawrence Historical Society Winona D. Nash History Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in history. Awarded to Henry Sayen.

11) The Leah Deni Memorial Award is presented to an outstanding senior who exemplifies the warmth, humor, caring and leadership qualities characterized by Leah with an interest in ecology. Awarded to Rebecca Scardelletti.

12) The Ellie Downs Memorial Scholarship is presented to a senior with a grade point average of 3.0 or greater, who is working part time and plans to further their education. Awarded to Emma Freedman.

13) The Lawrence Township Education Association (LTEA) Scholarship is presented to a child of an association member who has demonstrated exemplary academic achievement. Awarded to Elizabeth Marsh.

14) The Eggerts Crossing Civic League Thomas Anderson Scholarship is presented to a student who has demonstrated a high level of academic achievement, extra-curricular participation, and dedication to community service. Awarded to Edward Carrington.

15) The Eggerts Crossing Civic League Loveless-Ketterher Scholarship is presented to a senior residing in Eggerts Crossing Village, who has maintained good academic standing, and plans to continue their education in math or science. Awarded to Aaliyah Walker.

16) The Trenton Elks Lodge #105 Scholarship is presented to a senior who has demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to community service. Awarded to Vanessa Manso.

17) The Lawrence Middle/High School Parent Teacher Awards are presented to seniors whose parents are actively involved in the PTO, who exhibit a positive school spirit and community pride, and plan to continue their love of lifelong learning through either advanced education or service to their country. Awarded to Samantha Adamczyk, Christopher Clawson, Allison Drury, Kathleen O’Brien, and Margaret vonVorys-Norton.

18) The Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholder Scholarship is awarded to a senior who has maintained at least a 2.8 GPA and plans to continue their education as a full-time student at Mercer County Community College. Awarded to Brianna Gladwell.

19) The Lawrence Township Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local #119 Law Enforcement Awards are presented to seniors who are dedicated to academic success and plan to pursue a degree in criminal justice. Awarded to Bria Peterson and Keith West.

20) The Lawrence High School Student Council Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior for exceptional dedication to both school and community. Awarded to Jaggar DeMarco.

21) The Thomas J. Carnevali, Jr. Foundation Artist Award is presented to an outstanding senior artist to help purchase supplies while continuing their art education. Awarded to Henry Sayen.

22) The Artarama Art Awards are presented to graduating art students who have shown the greatest improvement in technique over multiple art courses. Awarded to Allison Drury, Justin Martillotti, and Lauren Stout.

23) The Friends of Sonny Nictakis Award is presented to a senior, who like Sonny, embodies the attributes of academic success, courage, positive outlook, leadership and compassion. One who contributes to the school community with integrity and high moral standards. Awarded to Marissa Raimond.

24) The Dollars for Scholars Awards are presented to outstanding seniors for academic achievement, school involvement, and service to school and community. Awarded to Sreya Basuroy, Anthony Cerone, Jaggar DeMarco, Usman Haq, Molly Klimak, Vanessa Manso, Alison Titus, Margaret vonVorys-Norton, and Edward Zeng.

25) The Wegmans Scholarship is presented to an employee so that they may pursue their educational goals and build a foundation for their future through strong work performance and high academic achievement. Awarded to Joseph Stevens.

26) The Lawrence Township Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #209 Scholarship is presented to a senior who is dedicated to academic success and plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice. Awarded to Alicja Tara.

27) The Ashley Marie Forker Scholarship is presented to a senior who is productively involved in community service, is a sports enthusiast, and is dedicated to academic success. Awarded to Lauren Turkowski.

28) The Hamnett Soccer Association Ashley Marie Forker Scholarship is presented to a senior who is productively involved in community service, is a sports enthusiast, a dedicated team leader and player, and is dedicated to academic success. Awarded to Elizabeth Hernandez.

29) The Hamnett Soccer Association Glenn Myernick Scholarship is presented to a senior who has demonstrated their commitment to the game of soccer by the way they have conducted themselves on and off the playing field. Awarded to David Budzinski.

30) The Hamnet Association Glenn “Moochie” Myernick Alumni Soccer Scholarship is presented to a senior who will attend a two- or four-year college and has demonstrated commitment to the game of soccer by the way they have conducted themselves on and off the field. Awarded to Anthony Cerone.

31) The Lawrence High School Career Awareness Awards are presented to graduating seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in career related skills during community work experiences. Awarded to Miranda Colucci, Bridget Delaney, Allison Drury, and Zachary Fox.

32) The Lawrence High School Yearbook Awards recognize seniors who have contributed most significantly to the high school yearbook. Awarded to Zachary Cartun, Jaggar DeMarco, Timothy Kelly, Caitlyn Reading, and Sam Sciarra.

33) The Lawrence High School Leadership Awards are presented to seniors who through their outstanding leadership have positively influenced the students of Lawrence High School. Awarded to Danielle Funari, Ryan Lutes, and Sam Sciarra.

34) The Sunshine Club Award is presented to a senior who demonstrates a positive outlook towards school, is good-hearted and willing to help others whenever possible. Awarded to Margaret vonVorys-Norton.

35) The Baha'i Faith Excellence of Character Award is presented to a student, who through spontaneous daily behavior most exemplifies lack of prejudice, trustworthiness, honesty, humility, nobility of character and a high sense of respect for others. Awarded to Kaitlyn Quis.

36) The Baha'i Faith Race Unity Award is presented to a student who contributes most significantly toward the promotion of racial unity in our community. Awarded to Robert Jean Pierre.

37) The Christine Karwoski Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a friendly senior who has achieved high academic standing and is ready to lend a helping hand to others. Awarded to Shannon DeFillipo.

38) The Ethel Dettman Scholarship is presented to an outstanding senior who plans to enter the field of elementary education. Awarded to Shara Katlin.

39) The Ben Franklin Elementary School Larry Ksanznak Awards are presented to seniors who attended Ben Franklin Elementary School and have maintained a high academic average. Awarded to Brian Hamilton and Caitlyn McBride.

40) The Eldridge Elementary Park School Alumni Award is presented to a senior who attended Eldridge Park Elementary School and has maintained a high academic average. Awarded to Prarthi Patel.

41) The Lawrenceville Elementary School Alumni Awards are presented to seniors who attended Lawrenceville Elementary School and have maintained a high academic average. Awarded to Jesse Dubin and Caitlin Lavery.

42) The Slackwood Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization Scholarships are presented to seniors who attended Slackwood Elementary School and have maintained a high academic average. Awarded to Samantha Adamczyk, Giovanna Tomat-Kelly, and Margaret vonVorys-Norton.

43) The Lawrence Intermediate School Parent Teacher Organization Awards are presented to seniors who attended Lawrence Intermediate School and have maintained a high academic average. Awarded to Alison Titus and Piotr Weiss.

44) The Amy R. Nechamkin Memorial Award is presented to a member of the graduating class who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the service of school and community. Awarded to Erica Kamerzel.

45) The Ann Fowler Memorial Scholarship is presented to a former student of Ann’s who has demonstrated academic excellence and plans to continue their education in the field of science. Awarded to Nataliya Kindiy.

46) The Senior Club #4 Book Scholarship is presented to a senior who has demonstrated academic success and has been active in community service. Awarded to Brianna Gladwell.

47) The St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Scholarship is presented to a graduating senior in high academic standing for their outstanding commitment to the acolyte program. Awarded to Vance Wallace.

48) The Hamilton Girls Softball Association (HGSA) Scholarship is presented to a graduating senior for outstanding academic performance, participation in the HGSA, and a commitment to community service. Awarded to Kimberly Ragazzo.

49) The Lawrence Township Junior Baseball-Softball Association Awards are presented to seniors who are continuing their education, are in good academic standing, and have participated in Little League Baseball-Softball for at least five years. Awarded to Shannon DeFillipo, Eric Floyd, Catherin MacDuff, and Charles Morreale.

50) The League of Women Voters of Lawrence Township presents the Martha Jamieson Crowley Community Service Awards for Young People to students in good academic standing who have demonstrated outstanding community service to the greater Lawrence area. Awarded to Jadira Villalba and Joscelin Villalba.

51) The Lawrence Township Principals and Supervisors Association Scholarship is presented to a senior in the top quarter of their graduating class who displays exemplary leadership ability and interest in public service. Awarded to Krista Edwards.

52) The Lawrence High School Principal’s Awards are presented to seniors who, through their outstanding student service and leadership, have positively influenced the students, faculty and administrators of Lawrence High School. Awarded to Sreya Basuroy, Edward Carrington, Caitlyn Reading, Sam Sciarra, and Ethan Whitener.

53) The Ralph Dobrich Scholarships are presented to seniors in good academic standing who have been selected for having the potential to make a significant difference in the world. Awarded to Edward Carrington, Jaggar DeMarco, Emma Freedman, Taylor Metelus, Henry Sayen, and Justin Scott.

54) The Lawrence High School Culinary Arts Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the area of culinary arts. Awarded to Jacalyn Melker.

55) The Lawrence High School Family and Consumer Science Education Design Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and dedication in the area of fashion design. Awarded to Lauren Stout.

56) The Lawrence High School Early Childhood Education Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the area of early childhood education. Awarded to Morgan Cesareo.

57) The Lawrence High School Promising Teachers of Tomorrow Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the Promising Teacher of Tomorrow program. Awarded to Shara Katlin.

58) The Lawrence High School Drafting and Design Awards are presented to seniors who have demonstrated the highest level of proficiency and dedication in the areas of drafting, 3D modeling, and architecture. Awarded to Keith Costa and Dominic Wirkijowski.

59) The Lawrence High School CISCO Academy Award is presented to the senior exhibiting the highest level of performance in the CISCO Academy. Awarded to Anthony Cerone.

60) The Lawrence High School Advanced Photography Award is presented to a senior demonstrating outstanding achievement in the area of photo-manipulation. Awarded to Caitlyn Reading.

61) The Lawrence High School Art Awards are presented to seniors who have demonstrated excellence in the field of art. Awarded to Krista Edwards, Jeremy Snyder, and Samantha Wyckoff.

62) The Christine Stockton Art Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in commercial art and design. Awarded to Nikunj Lathia.

63) The Bruce Harrell Art Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in the visual arts. Awarded to Ilyssa Rodriguez.

64) The Lawrence High School Excellence in Pottery and Sculpture Awards are awarded to seniors who have demonstrated excellence in pottery and sculpture. Presented to Emma Freedman and Elizabeth Marsh.

65) The Lawrence High School Computer Applications Award recognizes the senior who has demonstrated the highest level of proficiency in computer applications. Awarded to Paloma Santiago.

66) The Ruth Ellingham Memorial Scholarship is presented to a senior who has demonstrated the highest proficiency in business education. Awarded to Samantha Rivera.

67) The M. Elizabeth Cordwell Scholarships are presented to seniors who have achieved academic excellence in business education. Awarded to David Budzinski, Anthony Cerone, and Puja Patel.

68) The Lawrence High School Computer Science Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in computer science. Awarded to Michal Mus.

69) The Rocco Maruca Mathematics Award is presented to a four-year math student who has displayed a genuine concern for others and has achieved a high level of success in mathematics. Awarded to Katherine Adamy.

70) The Lawrence High School Mathematics Award recognizes a senior who has demonstrated the highest proficiency in mathematics. Awarded to Sreya Basuroy.

71) The Einstein Physics Award is presented to a graduating senior for excellence in the study of physics. Awarded to Jesse Dubin.

72) The Sonia C. Kraemer “Excellence in Science” Award is presented to a senior who is proficient in science and plans to continue their education in the science field. Awarded to Molly Klimak.

73) The Avogadro Chemistry Award is presented to a member of the senior class who has demonstrated outstanding ability and motivation in the study of chemistry. Awarded to Brennavan Surendran.

74) The Hubert Alyea Chemistry Award is presented to a senior in high academic standing who has excelled in chemistry and related fields of science. Awarded to Luke Buschman.

75) The Leuwenhoek Biology Award is presented to a graduating senior for excellence in the study of biological sciences. Awarded to Tristan Jordan.

76) The Lawrence High School English as a Second Language (ESL) Award is presented to a senior enrolled in the ESL program who plans to further their education, has attained a high academic average, and has displayed motivation and progress in mastering the English language. Awarded to Michel Ange Deravil.

77) The Lawrence High School World Language Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French. Awarded to Shruthi Srinivas.

78) The James Semptimphelter Memorial Italian Award is presented to an outstanding senior who has completed three years of Italian and has demonstrated the qualities of scholarship, sensitivity, and humor. Awarded to Catherin MacDuff.

79) The Lawrence High School Classical Language Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and appreciation of classical studies in Latin. Awarded to Benjamin Kraun.

80) The Lawrence High School World Language Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of American Sign Language. Awarded to Rachel Friedman.

81) The Lawrence High School World Language Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence and dedication in the study of Chinese. Awarded to Matthew Hinson.

82) The Lawrence High School World Language Awards are presented to seniors who have demonstrated excellence and dedication in the study of Spanish. Awarded to Shehara Yoosuf and Usman Haq.

83) The Lawrence High School English Award recognizes the student in the graduating class who has demonstrated the highest level of proficiency in the subject of English. Awarded to Sean Purcell.

84) The Lawrence High School Literary Appreciation Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated excellence and appreciation for literature in multiple English courses. Awarded to Abel McDaniels.

85) The Lawrence High School Social Studies Award recognizes a student in the graduating class who has demonstrated scholastic excellence in social studies. Awarded to Jaggar DeMarco.

86) The Ruth E. Bills Annual Citizenship Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated exemplary citizenship and scholarship. Awarded to Alison Titus.

87) The Lawrence High School Historical Society Award is presented to a senior who has excelled in history. Awarded to Edward Zeng.

88) The John Withers Award is presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding community activism and political involvement. Awarded to Michael Russ.

89) The Leonard Walker Award is presented to a senior who has served the district and community’s technical needs and plans to continue their education. Awarded to Fahmida Ahmed.

90) The Lawrence District Media Awards are presented to outstanding seniors who have volunteered to assist with the media needs of Lawrence Township Public Schools. Awarded to Fahmida Ahmed, Taleil Brown, Erica Kamerzel, Ryan Lutes, Dean Price, Andre Santos, and Ethan Whitener.

91) Recognition of being selected as a recipient of the 2011 New Jersey Rising Scholars Student Recognition Award. Presented to Yasmin Baylor.

92) Recognition of being selected as a scholar in the 2011-2012 National Hispanic Recognition Program. Presented to Elizabeth Hernandez.

93) Recognition of being selected as an Outstanding Participant in the 2012 National Achievement Scholarship Program and recipient of the $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship. Presented to Abel McDaniels.

94) Recognition of being selected as National Merit Scholarship Commended Students. Presented to Jesse Dubin, Brian Hamilton, Usman Haq, Caitlin Lavery, Abel McDaniels, Kiara Ott, Prarthi Patel, Alison Titus, and Edward Zeng.

96) The 2012 Top Ten Awards are presented to seniors who have earned a class rank within the top ten of their graduating class. Awarded to: Katherine Adamy, Sreya Basuroy (Validectorian), Zachary Cartun, Jesse Dubin, Tristan Jordan, Abel McDaniels (Salutatorian), Kiara Ott, Henry Sayen, Justin Scott, and Edward Zeng.
