Lawrence Township Summer School Programs Help Others

Students participating in Lawrence Township Public Schools summer programs joined together to help families in need by collecting back-to-school supplies, canned goods, personal care items and money donations for HomeFront.

HomeFront, an agency devoted to ending homelessness in Central New Jersey, holds a Back-to-School Drive each summer to help families in need prepare their children to return to school.

Mrs. Helen Dutko, who works in the LTPS Summer Eagles program, organized the drive. The Eagles program supports second language learners within the district. Their mission is to provide these students with language-based academic, social, and community service activities.

Mrs. Dutko enlisted students, staff and volunteers participating in the Eagles, Destinations and ESY programs to collect donated school supplies for one week. Mrs. Dutko and her sons then delivered the supplies to the HomeFront headquarters for distribution.
