College Volleyball: Rider University 3, Saint Peter's University 0

The Rider University volleyball team won its third match in a row, defeating Saint Peter's University 3-0 on Sunday (Oct. 7) in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match.

LAWRENCEVILLE — The Rider University volleyball team won its third match in a row, defeating Saint Peter’s University 3-0 on Sunday (Oct. 7) in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match.

The Broncs won 25-23, 25-21, 25-16 in a match that featured 19 ties and nine lead changes.

For Rider (9-8, 3-5 MAAC), sophomore Jaclyn Webber (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon) had 16 kills, 15 digs and two blocks, hitting .222 with junior Bridget Sheerin (Oaklawn, Ill./Marist) adding 13 digs and 11 kills while hitting .276.

Rider out-hit Saint Peter’s (1-21, 0-8 MAAC) .259 to .120.

Also for the Broncs, sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 26 assists and 14 digs with senior Stephanie Nagy (Muscatine, Iowa, Muscatine) adding 13 kills while hitting .500.

Junior Meghan Bartsch (Cranford) had 18 assists and four digs for Rider.

The Broncs defeated Saint Peter’s three times in 2011 and Rider has won 18 of the 38 matches all-time in the series.

This was the first time Rider has won three straight conference matches since the end of the 2004 season.

Rider improved to 6-1 at home this season.

Rider hits the road for three straight matches, traveling to Marist and Siena Oct. 13-14 before the return conference match at Saint Peter’s on Oct. 17.
