College Volleyball: Marist College 3, Rider University 1

Despite 15 kills and 10 digs each from junior Bridget Sheerin and junior Megan Knott , the Rider University volleyball team saw its winning streak snapped by Marist College on Saturday (Oct. 13).

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Despite 15 kills and 10 digs each from junior Bridget Sheerin (Oak Lawn, Ill./Marist) and junior Megan Knott (West Caldwell/James Caldwell), the Rider University volleyball team saw its three-match winning streak snapped as Marist College defeated the Broncs Saturday afternoon (Oct. 13).

Marist won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match 20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22.

Also for the Broncs, sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 49 assists and 11 digs with senior Stephanie Nagy (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) adding 10 kills.

Senior Brittany Gajewski (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central) had 13 digs for Rider (9-9, 3-6 MAAC).

Former Northeast Conference rivals, Rider has won 13 of the 31 matches all-time against Marist. The Red Foxes swept the Broncs by identical 3-1 scores last season.  The Broncs defeated the Red Foxes in two out of three matches in 2010 including a 3-0 win in the MAAC Championship Tournament and a 3-2 win in Alumni Gym that saw the Broncs rally from two sets down.
