College Track and Field: Rider Men and Women in Fast Times at Lehigh

The Rider University men's and women's indoor track and field team competed in the Fast Times at Lehigh meet Friday night (Dec. 7) in the 2012-13 season opener.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Rider University men’s and women’s indoor track and field team competed in the Fast Times at Lehigh meet Friday night (Dec. 7) in the 2012-13 season opener.

The meet was held at the Hawk’s Rauch Fieldhouse.

For the Rider men, Senior David Hightower (Easton, Pa/Easton) finished first in the men’s 60-meter hurdles, running a 8.18.

For the Rider women, freshman Latazah Coleman (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) won the 60-meter dash in 7.76

Also for the Rider men, senior James Burroughs ran for third place in the men’s 60-meter hurdles (8.37) and junior Wilvenson Baptiste (Irvington) finished third in the 400-meter dash (50.72).  Junior Joseph Carlin (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Tech.) placed third in the 1000-meter run in 2:34.42.

Also on the women’s side, freshman Dashana Ransome (Irvington) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.86) behind Coleman. Freshman Madeline Hummel also took second in the 500-meter run (1:19.31).

Sophomore Ashley Edwards turned in a third place performance in the 400-meter dash (1:00.32) for the Rider women. Sophomore Taylor Harmon (Robbinsville) jumped for third place in the women’s triple jump, reaching 1.60m

Sophomore Anthony DeFranco (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) placed fourth in the men’s 60-meter dash.

Senior Mia Riley (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) ran for fifth place in the women’s 60-meter dash, clocking a 7.86.

In the men’s 60-dash, freshman Darnell Charles (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) placed fifth with a time of 7.15.
