Thousands Rally Against Layoffs, Benefits Plan

Police, firefighters fill capital to protest statewide layoffs and proposed changes to pensions and health care.

Thousands of unionized police and firefighters from throughout the state descended on the statehouse in Trenton on Thursday to protest municipal budget cuts that have led to layoffs and to challenge Gov. Chris Christie's plan to have them contribute more to health and pension plans.
