Tell Us on Twitter Thursday Night: Can You Afford to Live Here?

You hear about it a lot: For some people, life in the Garden State is getting too expensive.

It's easy to understand why. Many taxes go up year after year. The cost of living is rising. And the economy's still not in great shape—those who've hung onto their jobs often still have to deal with pay freezes, with furloughs or with piddling raises.

So the question we'll ask Thursday night at 7 p.m. on NJPatchChat: Can you afford to live here? Is your community, or New Jersey overall, just getting too expensive?And if not here, where's better?

We want to hear your answers on NJPatchChat, Patch's statewide Twitter chat on big issues with local impacts.  If you've got any, we'd love to hear your ideas for making things better (hey, we've got bills to pay too).

That's what's called a "hashtag"—a special term Twitter users keep an eye on, to follow an ongoing discussion or a particular topic. Want to join into the conversation? Use the term "#NJPatchChat" somewhere in your tweet (your Twitter post), and anyone following along will see what you have to say.

If you don't have a Twitter account, you can still follow along by searching #NJPatchChat on Twitter.com, but you can't join in.
