Sandy Extends Lawrence's Fourth Quarter Tax Grace Period

Because of the hurricane, Lawrence Township property owners now have until 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, to pay their fourth quarter taxes.

Lawrence Township's fourth quarter taxes were due on Nov. 1, but due to Hurricane Sandy the usual 10-day grace period has been extended to Friday, Nov. 16.

All tax payments must now be paid and received by the Tax Collector's Office before 4 p.m. that day. Any tax payments received after 4 p.m. on Nov. 16 will be subject to interest.

"Interest is charged at the rates of 8 percent for balances of less than $1,500 and 18 percent for balances in excess of $1,500, charged from the original due date," according to the township's website.
