Reminder: January is Dog License Renewal Month in Lawrence

January is dog license renewal month for Lawrence Township residents. Dog licenses are due by Jan. 31, 2014. Any dog over the age of 7 months is required by law to be licensed. 

According to New Jersey Law, in order to obtain your dog’s license, rabies immunization must be valid for the entire licensing period. Should your dog’s rabies certificate expire between January 2014 and October 31, 2014, you are required by State law to revaccinate your dog prior to obtaining its 2014 license.

The Lawrence Township Health Department will hold a Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic for all dogs and cats over the age of 3 months on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 - 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory on Eggert Crossing Road. 

Clinic will be held rain or shine. 

• All pets must be accompanied by an adult
• All pets must be leashed or in suitable carriers
• For safety and insurance purposes no children under 7 years of age

All visitors are required to stop at the guard shack and provide identification.

Dog licenses are renewed in the Municipal Clerk’s office. Proof of current rabies certification and proof of spaying or neutering (if applicable) must be presented when a license is purchased by mail or in person. The fee is $11 if spayed or neutered and $14 if not. Effective March 1, a $5 delinquent fee will be assessed plus $1.00 per month for each month delinquent.
