Primary Election Polls Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Today

No municipal candidates appear on the ballot today (Tuesday), but candidates are vying to represent the Democratic and Republican parties in November's races for Mercer County Freeholder, U.S. Senate, the House of Republicans and the White House.

New Jersey’s primary elections will take place today, Tuesday, June 5.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for registered Democrats and Republicans to choose their respective party’s representatives in the Nov. 6 general election. Polling locations can be found below.

As no Lawrence Township Council seats are up this year, no municipal candidates appear on the ballot.

But three seats on the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders are at stake in November’s general election.

Running unopposed on today’s ballot are incumbent Democrats Ann M. Cannon, Pasquale “Pat” Colavita Jr., and Samuel T. Frisby Sr. Colavita is a former Lawrence Township councilman and mayor.

The Republican's slate for county freeholder is also unopposed, with James V. Castelize III, Joseph D’Angelo and David Walsh appearing on the ballot.

Also unopposed on the ballot, seeking to represent the Democratic party in the race for the U.S. Senate seat that is up for grabs in November, is incumbent Robert Menendez.

Joe “Rudy” Rullo, Joe Kyrillos, David Douglas Brown and Bader G. Qarmout, meanwhile, are in competition to represent the Republican party in that U.S. Senate race.

Party nominations in November’s 12th Congressional District race are also unopposed, with incumbent Rush Holt appearing on the ballot for the Democrats, and Eric A. Beck showing on the ballot for the Republicans.

Barack Obama is on the ballot unopposed as the Democrats’ representative in November’s presidential race.

Appearing on the ballot vying to be the Republican party’s presidential representative are Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum (although Gingrich and Santorum have officially dropped out of the race).

Also on the ballot are candidates seeking to represent their respective party at the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention.

Because of the election, the Lawrence Township Council meeting that would normally take place today will instead be held tomorrow, Wednesday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal building.

 

Lawrence Township Polling Locations:

Voting for Lawrence Township Districts 1, 4, 7, 15 and 20 is taking place at the Lawrenceville Fire Co. firehouse at 64 Phillips Ave.

Voting for Lawrence Township Districts 2, 9 and 10 is taking place at the Slackwood Fire Co. firehouse at 21 Slack Ave.

Voting for Lawrence Township Districts 3, 6, 8 and 11 is taking place at the Lawrence Road Fire Co. firehouse at 1252 Lawrence Rd. (Route 206).

Voting for Lawrence Township District 5 is taking place at Project Freedom clubhouse on Freedom Boulevard.

Voting for Lawrence Township Districts 12, 13, 14 and 19 is taking place at the Lawrence Senior Center at 30 Darrah Lane East.

Voting for Lawrence Township District 16 is taking place at the Lawrence Square Village clubhouse on Reed Court, off Quakerbridge Road.

Voting for Lawrence Township Districts 17, 18 and 21 is taking place at the Lawrence Township Municipal Building at 2207 Lawrence Rd. (Route 206).
