Lawrence Township's 2011 Economic Development Awards were passed out during a breakfast held last week by the township Growth and Redevelopment Committee and the Lawrence Chapter of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Lawrence Township’s 2011 Economic Development Awards were distributed during a ceremony and breakfast held last Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the  facility on Princess Road.

The event is held annually by the Lawrence Township Growth and Redevelopment Committee and the Lawrence Chapter of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Marc Edenzon, president of Special Olympics New Jersey, spoke during the event about SONJ’s mission and their hosting of the U.S Special Olympics National Games in 2014.

The award winners were as follows:

  • Mayor's Award – Colonial Lanes, 2420 Brunswick Pike, for its .
  • New Large Business – Parsons Brinckerhoff, 2000 Lenox Drive, Princeton Pike Corporate Center, for its successful relocation to Lawrence Township.
  • New Small Business Award – , 2685 Main St., for its success as a new business in the township. 
  • New Building/Renovation Award – Subs & Bites at 2480 Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1) for its new building and new business.
  • Business Service Award – The , 2204 Brunswick Pike, for its ongoing service to the community.
  • Ralph Copleman Environmental Award – for her dedication to furthering sustainability.
  • Podmore/Dwyer Historic Award – Fred Vereen Jr. for his promotion of township history through his contribution of his personal archive.

Sponsors of the awards program included Stark & Stark, First Choice Bank, Brandywine Realty Trust, Saker ShopRites Inc., Hill Wallack LLP Attorneys-At-Law, Howard Johnson, and Roma Bank.

The awards were pottery bowls crafted locally by Joan Reymond Designs.
