Municipal Budget, Tax Hike to be Discussed by Council

The Lawrence Township Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Feb. 7).

Tonight’s (Feb. 7) Lawrence Township Council meeting will feature discussion about Lawrence Township’s proposed $42.35 million 2012 municipal budget and Township Manager Richard Krawczun’s recommendation – – that a public referendum be held asking township voters to approve a tax rate increase above the state’s 2 percent cap.

The meeting, to be held in the council chambers of the municipal building at 2207 Lawrence Rd. (Route 206), will begin at the new earlier start time of 6:30 p.m.

As part of the budget discussion, Municipal Court Judge Kevin Nerwinski, Police Chief Daniel Posluszny, Health Officer Carol Chamberlain, Superintendent of Recreation Steven Groeger and Director of Public Works Greg Whitehead will present overviews of each department's proposed 2012 budget.
