Mercer County Park Commission Seeks Volunteers for Nature Camp

The park commission is seeking outdoor enthusiasts to guide children through the trails of Baldpate Mountain during its Nature Camp.

Editor's Note: The following is a news release that was issued by the Mercer County administration.

The Mercer County Park Commission is seeking enthusiastic, outdoor-loving individuals to volunteer during the County’s Baldpate Nature Camp.

Volunteers will assist in leading the campers through daily explorations, hikes, experiments and games, in addition to other camp-related duties. The schedule includes fishing, insect catching and identification, birdwatching, orienteering, microscope lab, animal tracking, and many other nature- and ecology-themed activities.

The two camps hosted at Baldpate Mountain in Hopewell Township will explore the landscape surrounding the camp lodge, following the trails through field and forest as campers perform their daily activities. Both nature camps will focus on connecting the children with nature through fun and explorative activities. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for individuals seeking experience in the outdoors or education. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

  • Nature Camp I: July 9 – 13, Baldpate Mountain
  • Nature Camp II: July 16 – 20, Baldpate Mountain

If you are interested in volunteering for one or both of the camp weeks, please contact Jenn Rogers at jrogers@mercercounty.org. Please describe any relevant previous experience and dates of availability.
