Today (Nov. 5) Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello, Mercer County Board of Elections Chair Joanne Palmucci, and Mercer County Superintendent of Elections Catherine DiCostanzo, at a joint press conference, advised voters on emergency polling changes, hours of operations and compliance with the Governor’s directives.
These changes have arisen due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
A displaced voter from another county, including Mercer County, may vote by provisional ballot at any polling location in the state.
By the governor’s order, any Vote-by-Mail ballot that is mailed and postmarked Nov. 5 or earlier will be counted, so long as it is received by Nov. 19.
Electronic voting only applies to displaced voters or emergency response workers and the deadline for any electronic ballot is 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Election Day is tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 6. Polls are open from 6 a.m. through 8 p.m. for voters preferring to cast their ballot on conventional voting machines.
Due to extraordinary circumstances resulting from Hurricane Sandy, Election Day in Mercer County will have acute challenges.
The employees of the Office of the Mercer County Clerk, the Office of the Superintendent of Elections and the County Board of Election are working diligently and their commitment to the voters of Mercer County remains unaffected.
All voters are encouraged to be patient and to assist their family, neighbors, and friends in anyway possible on Election Day.
