Lawrence Council Meeting Agenda Available for Review

The next meeting of Lawrence Township Council will take place today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal building at 2207 Lawrence Rd. (Route 206).

The next meeting of Lawrence Township Council will take place today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal building at 2207 Lawrence Rd. (Route 206).

The meeting agenda and Township Manager Richard Krawczun’s traditional pre-meeting memo are available from the township’s website and the Patch media box to the right.

According to the agenda, the meeting will include a special presentation from Township Historian Dennis Waters about upcoming events during Lawrence History Month, as October is traditionally designated.

Presentation

Dennis Waters, Lawrence Township Historian will present the schedule of planned activities for Lawrence History Month.

Introduction of Ordinances

There are no ordinances for introduction.

Resolutions

The agenda includes routine administrative authorizations as well as resolutions providing for refunds, bond releases and acceptances.

Resolution 7-C authorizes an amendment to the bid award of Cardinal Contracting Company for the 2011 road improvement program in the amount of $29,796.43. The new contract total is $389,794.43. The purpose of the change order is that actual as built quantities exceeded engineering estimates. Funding is available from previously adopted capital ordinances.

Resolution 7-D authorizes an agreement between Lawrence Township and Lawrence Township Police Officer Ronald Buchanan for the adoption of a retired K-9 police dog.

Resolution 7-H authorizes submission of a grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation Road Improvement Program for the resurfacing of Province Line Road. The project area is that portion of Province Line Road between Route 206 and Princeton Pike. The northbound lane between Bannister Drive and Route 206 will be widened by two feet with drainage improvements and new curbing. The amount of funding being requested is $250,000 and the estimated project cost is $350,000.

Resolution 7-I authorizes submission of grant application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation Road Improvement Program for the installation of an off-road bikeway along Province Line Road between Bannister Drive and Route 206. This portion of bikeway is a planned section of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail. The amount of funding being requested is $200,000 and the estimated project cost is $200,000.

Award of Bids

There is one bid award on the agenda.

Resolution 8-A awards a contract to GreenScape Landscape Contractor, Incorporated of Glenside, Pennsylvania for the providing of snow plowing services during the period November 1, 2012 through April 15, 2013. The bid amount is $189.00 per hour for a manned plow truck. The amount of the contract is not to exceed $17,000 and funding is available from the Reserve for Snow Removal Trust Fund. The prior year hourly rate was $210.00.
