Recently Lawrence Township contracted with SwiftReach Networks for emergency telephone notification services.  This system is commonly referred to as a “reverse 911 system."  The phone dialing system uses a database of phone numbers to auto dial residences and provide crucial information to residents in a variety of urgent situations.  These situations can include impending severe weather, missing person alerts or community events that will cause road closures in your neighborhood.

The notification database is made up of publicly listed “landline” telephone numbers and provide an excellent way to send important information to the public.  However, today many people use only mobile phones and other portable communications devices as their primary means of contact.  In addition, some residents have unlisted landline telephone numbers.

With this in mind, the Township of Lawrence has posted a web form on the Lawrence Township website www.lawrencetwp.com.  Residents can voluntarily register their unlisted landline phone numbers, mobile phones and email addresses to be included in the system.  A link to the form is located on the right side of the township website’s home page.

Citizen’s wishing to participate in this voluntary program are urged to provide complete contact information when filling out this web form.  Complete information includes your full name, exact street address and up to four telephone numbers.  Providing this information will ensure each of your contact phone numbers is called until one of the phone numbers is answered.  It will also ensure proper mapping of your address should a neighborhood specific notification be necessary.
