County Freeholders to Honor Lawrence Residents

Five people, including three students, will be honored for their contributions to the community when the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders visits Lawrence Township tonight, Thursday Dec. 8.

The Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders is going on the road and will hold its next formal meeting tonight, Thursday, Dec. 8, in Lawrence Township.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the , 2207 Lawrence Rd. (Route 206).

In an effort to increase public awareness and participation in county government, the freeholders have made it a practice in recent years to hold meetings in area municipalities.

“We are always looking for ways to be more accessible to our constituents,” said Freeholder Board Chair (and former Lawrence Township mayor) Pasquale “Pat” Colavita Jr. “Going on the road allows us to bring county government directly to the community.”

  • Lawrence Intermediate School students Kayla Jackson and Ryan Stevens, for their efforts to collect winter coats for the needy through the
  • Eldridge Park Elementary School Kindergartener Nathaniel “Nate” Whitehead, for organizing
  • Daniel Haggerty, an attorney for Stark & Stark, for his pivotal role in starting both the Lawrence Township Educational Foundation and the Lawrence Township Community Foundation
  • William Agress, who since 1981 has played the role of Col. Edward Hand in under Hand’s command during the Revolutionary War
