County Clerk to Swear in Notaries at Satellite Office

The Mercer County Clerk's Office will process notary public applications at the Mercer County Connection satellite office in Hamilton Township during the first Thursday of each month.

Editor's Note: The following is a news release that was issued by the Mercer County Clerk's Office.

Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello will be swearing in notary publics at the county’s satellite office on a monthly basis for residents in 2011. Because of last year’s successful trial to process notary public applications on specially-designated nights at the Mercer County Connection, the service has been made a permanent monthly service by the county clerk for the coming year.

The Mercer County Clerk will bring her notary staff to the Mercer County Connection located in the Hamilton Square Shopping Center at 957 Route 33 and Paxson Avenue in Hamilton Township on the first Thursday of each month to process notary public commissions on-site.

“I am pleased to bring this service , on a regular basis, to the county’s satellite location for the convenience of county residents who live and work in our suburban communities,” said Sollami Covello. “There is no wait to have your notary application or renewal processed, and parking is free and plentiful.”

Notaries will be processed from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the following dates in second half of 2011:

Prospective notary publics must have their applications first signed by a New Jersey state legislator, then sent to the Office of the State Treasurer with a $25.00 application fee.

Once a Notary Public Commission and Oath Qualification certificate are issued to approved applicants by the state, they are required to be sworn in by the county clerk within 90 days from their commission date and register. The county fee to register a notary commission is set statutorily at $15.00 and lasts for five years.
