Winter Apparel, Frozen Shrimp, Tide and Diapers Among Shoplifters' Loot

  • Clarence Walker, 58, of Lawrenceville was charged with shoplifting after he allegedly filled a grocery cart with frozen shrimp, Tide laundry detergent and diapers and walked out of Acme on Jan. 2 around 1:30 p.m.. Followed by a store manager and an off-duty Trenton Police officer, Walker allegedly ran (with the cart) across the street to Colonial Lake, where he was then apprehended. He was sent to Mercer County Corrections Center in iieu of $2,400 bail with 10 percent down. 
  • Melissa Quilty, 59, of New Hope was charged with shoplifting after she allegedly stole winter clothing from Macy's. According to Lawrence Township Police, it happened around on Jan. 2 around 6:45 p.m. Quilty allegedly bought an item at Macy's, but also concealed a scarf, four pairs of gloves and a man's winter jacket into her Macy's bag. The total value of the merchandise was $475.
