Video/Photos: Woman Freed From Overturned Vehicle

DUI and reckless driving charges have been filed against the woman, whose sport utility vehicle flipped onto its side and hit a utility pole on Tartan Court shortly before 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

Update, 3 p.m. Dec. 5:

Lawrence Township this afternoon released the name of the driver of the vehicle that flipped onto its side and struck a utility pole on Tartan Court late Tuesday night.

The woman, Geraldine Flores, 50, of Valley Forge Avenue, Lawrence Township, was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving, according to police spokesman Detective Sgt. Joseph Amodio.

A woman was trapped in the wreckage of a sport utility vehicle after it  flipped onto its side and struck a utility pole in Lawrence Township late Tuesday night, Dec. 4.

The accident occurred shortly before 11:45 p.m. on Tartan Court, a quiet residential street running off Putnam Avenue that ends in a cul-de-sac.

Volunteer firefighters from the Slackwood, Lawrence Road and Lawrenceville fire companies extricated the woman from the wrecked Hyundai Santa Fe.

She was then transported by a Lawrence Township ambulance crew to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, emergency officials at the scene said.

A representative from Public Service Electric & Gas responded to inspect the utility pole that was struck by the vehicle.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation by township police. Any witnesses to the accident are asked to call police at (609) 896-1111.
