Vehicle Burglaries on the Rise in Lawrence

Please lock your vehicles and hide valuables from sight.

There has been an increase of vehicle burglaries throughout the Township, Lawrence Police report. 

Most of the affected vehicles have been unlocked, however several vehicles have had a window broken to gain access to visible valuables inside. There have been several vehicles stolen that had their keys left inside or a spare key to another vehicle left inside.

Once inside the vehicle the suspects are stealing cash, laptops, cell phones, designer sunglasses and any other item that can be easily converted to cash.

The Police Department is urging residents to lock their car doors at night. Leave all electronics such as GPS units and other valuables, inside your home or out of sight. 

Valuables should also be secured out of sight or in the trunk while shopping. Since thieves drive or walk through parking lots to look for electronics, purses, wallets or other valuables left in the vehicle. They then break a window to steal the items.
