Trenton Woman Charged with Forgery, Theft

A 25-year-old Trenton woman faces forgery and theft charges after police say she allegedly tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at Acme on Brunswick Pike.

Ashley Riggins was charged with forgery and attempted theft by deception and was issued a summons.

The incident happened on Jan. 3 around 2:30 p.m.

According to Lawrence Township Police, Riggins chose some items in the store and went through the self-checkout line. The items totaled $17.58. Riggins allegedly tried to pay with a fraudulent $100 bill, which an employee caught when the bill didn't pass a security test.

After the bill was denied, Riggins allegedly went to her car and got other cash to purchase some of the items.

Is it just possible she didn't know the bill was fake? Apparently she did go out to her car to get some "real" money to replace the rejected bill. Just wondering?
