Trenton Woman Charged with Forgery, Theft

A 25-year-old Trenton woman faces forgery and theft charges after police say she allegedly tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at Acme on Brunswick Pike.

Ashley Riggins was charged with forgery and attempted theft by deception and was issued a summons.

The incident happened on Jan. 3 around 2:30 p.m.

According to Lawrence Township Police, Riggins chose some items in the store and went through the self-checkout line. The items totaled $17.58. Riggins allegedly tried to pay with a fraudulent $100 bill, which an employee caught when the bill didn't pass a security test. 

After the bill was denied, Riggins allegedly went to her car and got other cash to purchase some of the items.
