Trenton Man Charged With Stalking Lawrence Woman

The suspect allegedly made "numerous" calls of a vulgar and sexual nature to the 20-year-old woman's cell phone, according to Lawrence Township police.

A Trenton man who allegedly made “numerous” sexually explicit phone calls to a Lawrence Township woman during the past few days was arrested on Friday, according to Lt. Charles Edgar, spokesman for the Lawrence Township Police Department.

The suspect, Frank Sasso, 43, of the 900 block of Lamberton Street in Trenton, was charged with stalking, Edgar said.

Township detectives launched an investigation after the victim – a 20-year-old resident of Review Avenue – called police at 5:38 p.m. Thursday (July 7) to report that she had been receiving a large number of harassing calls to her cell phone.

“The calls were vulgar and sexual in nature, which greatly alarmed the woman,” Edgar said.

While the woman had no idea who was making the calls, he said she was able to use an application on her cell phone that revealed information about the caller, even though the caller had attempted to block his phone number.

“Through her research, she was able to provide us with some leads as to who he was,” Edgar said.

Detectives soon confirmed the suspect’s identity and took him into custody Friday, he said, noting that in addition to the stalking charge Sasso was arrested in connection with an outstanding warrant from Robbinsville.

The woman did not recognize Sasso when she was shown a photograph of him by police, Edgar noted.
