Traffic Alert: Tree Blocking Part of Route 206 near Rider

Lawrence Township police are on the scene detouring traffic around the hazard.

The northbound lane in the 2000 block of Lawrence Road (Route 206) is currently (5:30 p.m., Sunday, May 8) blocked by a large limb that broke away from the trunk of a tree standing on the lawn of a home opposite Rider University, between the university's main entrance and its south gate.

The limb is partially resting on overhead telephone and cable TV wires, with branches covering the northbound lane.

Lawrence Township police officers are on the scene directly traffic around the hazard by alternating the flow of vehicles along the southbound lane of Route 206.

The tree limb apparently snapped at about 4:45 p.m.

Utility crews were said to be responding to the scene to remove the fallen tree limb and check for damage to the overhead wires.
